The history of the Medici and Lorraine collection of ancient pottery reached its height with the creation in 1784 of the Gabinetto delle Terre, by Luigi Lanzi. The Gabinetto gathers a collection of vases, earthenware, lamps, glassware, Egyptian idols, and clay slabs, totalling 737 pieces, now kept at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale of Florence. The research here presented led to the identification of the pieces and to the compilation of their Catalogue.
