More than any other philosophic system of the ancient world, the Epicureanism carried out a careful promotional strategy that found its clearest expression in the cult of the Master. The essays presented in this volume illustrate different aspects of epicurean propaganda – from iconography to literary and archaeological documents – starting from the exploration of the most significant places of worship of Epicurus (Athens, Herculaneum, Oenoanda), to episodes of humanistic and modern reception.
