This first volume contains 784 letters written by Giacomo Puccini to various recipients from 1877, when he was still a student of music in his hometown Lucca, to 1896, by then a celebrated composer of musical works of international fame. More than 150 letters are here published for the first time, while the others have been newly transcribed and amended directly from the sources, or attributed a date in the frequent cases of autographs lacking of it.
