This book records the year of the introduction in Italy of more than 6.500 living plants, representing 1.524 genus and 250 families of exotic and cultivated species. It also includes rare information about the personalities who promoted the study of exotic vegetation in Italy. It thus represents a precious instrument, for interventions on historical green areas, for the analysis of still life paintings, and for the history of Italian botanic.
Federico Maniero, (Padova 1955), laureato in Scienze Agrarie, libero professionista in Padova nell’ambito della paesaggistica con particolare interesse per il giardino storico e la valutazione di stabilità e messa in sicurezza degli alberi. Scrive, dal 1984, su varie riviste, del settore ed è membro della Società Botanica Italiana. Dal 1990 al 2003 ha fatto parte del Comitato Nazionale per lo studio e la ricerca sui giardini storici presso il Ministero per i Beni Culturali ed Ambientali. Nel 2001 ha ricevuto il Premio Internazionale Grinzane Giardini Botanici Hanbury con il volume “Fitocronologia d’Italia “, Leo S. Olschki, Firenze, 2000. gennaio 2015.
