The exchange of letters that emerged as a literary genre during the Renaissance occu- pies an important place in the social, political, and cultural practices of the pre-modern era. In light of this, this text analyzes the treatise Del Secretarioof Francesco Sansovino, published in Venice in 1564, which set into motion a rich tradition of epistolary writing manuals for professional writers.
