The present collection of articles examines translation and translators from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century, shedding light on the essential importance of historicity and subjectivity. The authors are particularly interested in the different readings given to particular texts, whether originally in Greek, Latin, Hebrew, French, or Italian, by different translators from the Renaissance to the Enlightenment.
